Tonight was the Pinewood Derby. Thomas and Spenser had worked hard to the design and construction of the car. To be honest we weren't really sure that it was street worthy but it passed inspection and the weigh in!
Ready to race the car.
Sadly, the car came in 2nd in every single race and our very competitive Thomas was quite disappointed. You know you try and tell your kids that it's about competing and not about winning, but really who are we trying to kid?! We only have another 7 Derby's to go too so hopefully he will have figured it out by then.
At the end of the night Olivia came up to Thomas and gave him a hug and told him that she loved him and not to be sad. I'm not sure that it did a whole lot to bring salve to Thomas' wounds (and he didn't like it in front of his friends) but it sure made me happy to see how much they love each other.

Thomas did win the award for the most unique car and even though he didn't place everyone thought that his car was pretty cool. Maybe we can get it right next time.
