Girls Trip to Utah

This weekend Olivia and I got to take a quick girls trip to Utah. I found out a few weeks back that Rachael, my best friend from home, was moving from Provo to Kansas and so I decided to take a visit before she moved out into the sticks.

I picked Olivia up from school at lunch time. Spenser came home to switch cars and say goodbye and as I was putting the final items into the case I got a text telling me that our flight have been delayed by 30 minutes. A few minutes later I got another text telling me that our flight had not been changed from 4:30 pm to
7:30 pm. I called my friend to tell her that I didn't need her to watch Sam anymore and I slowed down on getting the last things together.

About 20 minutes later I checked my phone again to find that the flight had been changed again this time back to its original departure time. I called Spenser wondering what I should do. Luckily, he was able to come home and take Sam over to my friend's house. We had enough time to make it up to the airport, but we didn't have enough time to go drop Sam off.

We made it up to the airport with time to spare, although finding a place to park the car was a little bit of a challenge. We flew through security, picked up some dinner, and enjoyed plenty of space on a less than full flight to Salt Lake.

We headed down to pick up the rental car and found out that Fox Cars is so high class they are located off site. We waited to be picked up. When the guy came he didn't say anything and just kept driving and driving. I was worried for a while that he was taking us to some secluded warehouse to kill us or something and so I was glad when we got off the freeway and I saw the rental place. They didn't have any of the standard cars that we had booked available so I ended up driving a Suburban for the weekend. It was a good test of my parking abilities.

We drove out and picked up some goggles and water tours for the pool and got some dinner and Cafe Rio. We even bumped into someone that Spenser had been to dental school with in Ohio who happened to be visiting family in town. The rest of the evening was spent throwing a football to Olivia in the pool and watching Food Court Wars. We just can't get enough of that Food Network channel!

We enjoyed some Red Vines before bed

Olivia swam again after breakfast. She would swim all day.

Our weekend ride

We checked out of our hotel and drove down into Salt Lake to tour Temple Square and have lunch with one of my favorite roommates, Kim.

Enjoying the Salt Lake Temple
and all the weddings happening outside

Reading the testimony of the Three Witnesses

I also took Olivia over to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building
to see where we had our wedding reception

The Wasatch Room

Outside the Lion House

Fountains by the Church Administration Building

Olivia and I had a fun visit with Kim over some yummy lunch at the Blue Lemon over in City Creek. It was really fun to catch up with her and hear about what's going on in her life. She hasn't changed a bit.

After lunch we took a trip over to the Visitors Center to
see the Christus Statue

We also enjoyed a tour of the Conference Center.Olivia was amazed at how big the auditorium was as compared to what you see at Conference on TV.

After picking up a quick smoothie at McDonald's we made the drive down to Provo. The drive was slow going since some things never change as there was an accident at the point of the mountain. We had a fun evening with Chris and Rach and their kids. Olivia enjoyed racing through the house with everyone.

Later that night we were joined by the Howards. They were up from St.George for a rugby tournament. It was so great to catch up with them and see how their family has grown. Steve was as entertaining as ever and Penny still just says whatever she thinks. I am so grateful for the time I spent growing up in the Coalville Branch.

The Howard Family
I was Adam's nursery leader (whose shadow I was standing in!)

While Annie and Phoebe headed off to play practice Olivia and I went over to BYU for a look around campus and a trip to the Bookstore for some new BYU apparel.

We stopped by Lavell Edwards Stadium

Posing in front of Y Mountain

The Periodicals section of the library
where I worked with the hubs

Hoping to graduate from here one day!

We then enjoyed a spot of ice cream at the creamery

We then had a sweaty trip to Rock Canyon Park

It was finally time for a farewell photo before we headed
up to Kaysville for dinner with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Three lovely girls

BFF'S Forever

Devin and Katrina were kind enough to host a family dinner. We were glad to have Dusty, Clay, Jordan, and baby Kent join us too.

Liv loved Cassidy. There aren't too many girls in
the Cammack family

It was then back to the hotel with a quick swim in the pool before bed. Olivia had a really hard time waking up the next morning and I even had to go down to cook a waffle for her to eat in bed. The late start lead to a late arrival at the airport, but luckily we ended up having plenty of time.

Looking sad to leave, but it was good to be home with our boys
