Woburn Safari Park

This morning we drove down to Woburn Safari Park. The weather was pretty chilly, but it meant that that weren't too many other people there. We felt like we pretty much had the place to overselves. We started off with the car safari. We drove around in the car and got to see the animals out in the 'wild'!

This rhino got up pretty close to the car

(although Zach seems to think it's fascinating!)

But the monkeys were the most interesting by far. Here they are climbing on Josh and Hayley's car. The kids were desperate for them to come our way and they were of course willing to oblige.

This little guy kept sitting on the wing mirror watching Zach, who was on my knee, eat some candy. He seemed very jealous. Zach did decide to wind the window down for a moment in the hope that the monkey might want to share, but gratefully it had by that time climbed to the back of the car. I had visions of a monkey trying to maul us. Unfortunately, grandpa didn't have locks on his power windows so I kept my hand firmly on the button after that.

Thomas thought they were pretty cool. Grandma tended to side more with Olivia, especially when she discovered that it had pulled off their car antennae!

After our car safari we went to see what else the park had to offer.

We then headed off to see more animals

Thomas got brave and decided to pet the sloth

When it moved he got pretty scared, but it was so funny!

After a quick trip to see the goats we headed back indoors to there fun play area. Zach would have stayed there all afternoon if we would have let him. He put up quite the fight when it was time for us to go on the last train ride of the day.

The swan paddle boats ended off the day nicely, even if the wind was blowing quite a bit by now. Uncle Josh was happy to help out.

Grandpa was then made to take a turn. Does he look cold or what? Notice the 2 cars in the background? We were the only people still crazy enough to be around. When you've come such a long way though you have to get your money's worth I say.

It was then a couple of hours home where we enjoyed some of Grandma's warming potato soup. Even though it was a little chilly we all had a great day.
