Zoo Day

We haven't done a whole lot this month since the weather has been kind of rainy and the kids have been happy to play inside on the weekends, so when we heard that it was supposed to be a rain free Saturday we headed down to the Portland zoo. Why Portland you ask when you live closer to Seattle? The drive is probably about 45 minutes shorter, but parking is so bad at the Seattle zoo that it probably only ends up being able 20 minutes longer. Plus, we did have one other incentive. Some of our favorite people in the world the Johnson's were spending the weekend down in Portland with grandparents so we thought we could crash their party!

Thomas and Connor

The weather was fairly fine and rain free and it was so good to be out in the fresh air. I didn't get to take many pictures though because my extra memory card was still in the printer after a previous download. Spense reminded me that it wasn't like we haven't been to the zoo before. I think that he was trying to tell me that I take too many pictures.

We loved seeing the tiger.

The kids especially loved the new Africa exhibit complete with lions. Everyone had to have a picture on the lions.

Zach

As we left the zoo both Sadie and Zach were pretty spent. All Zach could manage to do was drink his milk. Before we headed home we went over to Elephant's for some dinner. I can't ever pass up a croque monsieur when I'm in the area. It is my favorite.

Leaving the zoo

Thanks for meeting up with us Johnson's!

Looks fun! I don't think we ever made it to the Portland zoo. That's fun that you were able to meet up with the Johnson's. Spencer really looks a lot thinner. I hardly recognized him from the back. I need to get on his diet! :)
