Tree Hunting

Since the weather was expected to be clear this weekend, we decided that we had to get our Christmas decorating underway. After school this afternoon we headed out to Toms to find a tree. We knew that we would have to be pretty quick because we only had just over an hour of daylight left.

The kids were pretty excited at first chanting 'christmas tree' wherever they went. Their tree suggestions weren't terribly helpful though!

And we're off

Timber!

We did have a pretty hard time picking something out this year because there was nothing that we were totally in love with. At one point we even thought about going somewhere else tomorrow. but we didn't want to have to go through it all again another day. The kids were freezing and more than read to go home. So in the end we just decided on our best option. I think that Tom's has become pretty popular in recent years because he has some great trees for low prices so there isn't as much to choose from anymore. We may have to look somewhere else next year.

Tying up the tree

Spense didn't want to scratch the top of the car so we took an old crib mattress with us. White trash right?! Yes, we were the only ones left in the parking lot too. As we drove out the man told us to think about coming a little earlier next year!

After a trip to the store for a few strands of new lights
the tree was lit and ready to decorate

If there ever was a little girl who loves Christmas
this would be her. She loves to decorate the tree.

The chief decorators

They did a pretty great job

I always love how close the ornaments get placed

There will be some fixing later on!

Some of of us then watched the Polar Express

Zach had fallen asleep on the way home from tree hunting. We thought that he might make it through the night, but after a 4 hour nap he was up. That spelled trouble for someone tonight.

He was excited to see the tree and wanted to put up the star
that had been left for him since it was his turn this year.

Dad had to wake up to help out

Beautiful!

Unfortunately, a fun night didn't end too well. Zach was up until around 3:00 a.m. because a good nap makes for some good awake time. Olivia also decided that she didn't feel too well. I could hear her coughing as I lay with Zach and so took in a bowl that I told her to use if she needed to be sick. Sadly, she was sick, but all over herself and her bed.  Luckily, it was a one off and she seemed to feel much better after that.

i thought that because you lead such a wonderful life and no one seems to comment about what you do i thought i would oblige!

you do have such fun with your children, we always read what you are all up to even though we don't often comment.
