Today we celebrated the end of the Bobcat's baseball season. It's always a bitter sweet time because you're sad to be done, but are SO happy to have your nights back!
All of the teams were walked out onto the field and
the players were introduced.
the players were introduced.
After the introductions the Dave Nickerson in charge of the Parks and Recreation department said that he hadn't asked the Major to throw out the 1st pitch this year. He then started to explain that in the 25 years he had been on the job he had never seen what he saw at this years coaches meeting. He explained that when they all met there were 3 coaches with children at MTS and usually they would just all agree to coach together. But he said that after the meeting he was approached by a couple of the coaches who explained that they had noticed that there was a team up at the Hill who didn't have a coach and they said that they would be willing to take their kids and coach that team.
As we listened Thomas turned to me and said, "That's dad!" Then he said, "Are you crying? You're not right?" Sadly, I was. I was proud to be married to Spenser. He's a great guy and I don't give him enough props. I'll hopefully remember that the next time he does something small that frustrates me! Olivia and Jace were then invited out to throw out the first pitch and given game balls with their names on it.
Throwing out the 1st pitch

Warming up
I almost didn't catch this because she hit her first pitch!
As soon as she made it to 1st base I ran to the car with Thomas to drive him to his game. I really wanted to be able to stay and watch her whole game, but we didn't have any other way to get him there. I have felt terribly that there has only been one game that I have been able to stay to. It seems that I'm always running Thomas off to soccer or scouts and that worries me in the future as we have more kids in sports because I want to be able to give everyone my attention. I managed to make it back in time to see her final at bat. Spense had moved her to the end of the roster and after a lot of running and puffing I made it.
Taking the field
At the end of the game we had a short trophy presentation and got to have cupcakes.
