Soccer Saturday

We paused for a quick photo with cousins before Josh and Hayley left for the airport and we had to run out of the door to go to soccer. We were sad to see them leave, but glad they came and now we get to go back to our lives and the madness of multiple kids in sports. I just need to learn to embrace the opportunity though because I miss having something to do when it's over.

The Blue Koalas came out and gave a pretty good showing. Spenser was super nervous about how they were going to do. He has a hard time keeping their attention during practice and is pretty sure that they don't listen to a thing that he says. After watching the way Thomas has been coached this season too, Spense has decided to watch a little more quietly from the sidelines to allow them to learn how to play the game for themselves. He also asked the parents to stay a little quieter and that has been hard for me.

Olivia came out and was fairly aggressive at times and they even managed to pull off their first win. It gives me some hope for a better season than Thomas seems to be having.

Thomas' team gave it some good effort, but they couldn't pull off the win. Thomas blamed it on his goalkeeping in the second half, but he let in a hard to save goal late in the game and I did try and explain that the previous goalkeepers time in goal had made it a little difficult for them to come back. Naturally, he was bummed and we had to have the talk about how we are doing this for fun and to learn some valuable skills, but that we are not going to keep paying for him to come home upset after every game. In one ear and out the other is all I can say about that little talk.
