Port Ludlow and Port Townsend Getaway

Grandpa Kent came into town for another dental appointment and so we took advantage of his visit by going away for the night in celebration of 12 years of wedded bliss. We hit a small BBQ place on the way out that people have been telling us to try for dinner and then made the rest of the drive out to Port Ludlow. We checked into the Inn, went down and got desert, and slept all night without anyone waking up or coming into our room. I felt so refreshed the next day!

The view from our room

Neither of us were in the mood for anything the restaurant was offering for breakfast so we drove into the very small town and found a great ma and pa place, which was very tasty. We then made our way down to the marina and checked out a couple of kayaks for an hour or so and paddled around together. I wished we had settled on a double canoe because it would have been easier for me, but Spense thought that the single canoe would provide better photo taking opportunities.

By the time we had changed and checked out of our room it was shaping up to be a beautiful day. We then drove into Port Townsend to meet up with grandpa who had driven up with the kids. He said that they had been well behaved, but were extremely difficult to get going. I certainly know a whole lot about that. We picked up some food for a picnic lunches before we met them.

After eating we had a lot of fun exploring the batteries and we even hiked up to those at the top under great protest. It was nice to be able to show grandpa something a little bit different. He had been up here a long time ago when Spense was a teenager so it was nice for him to come back and the weather was perfect.

We forgot to bring and torch and wondered if the black thing at the side was a dead rat. The light from the camera revealed that we didn't have anything to worry about.

We strolled down to the beach

Yes, the kid only gets out when he needs a diaper change!

After a long day we went into town and ate at the diner. We did get a little crazy though and try out a new soda fountain place down the street for some ice cream, which everyone enjoyed.
