Friday Playtime

I had felt a little like I was getting the flu when I went to bed last night and I didn't feel a whole lot better this morning. I tried to sleep for a while, but Zach decided to climb into bed with me to watch over me, which didn't help me to accomplish my goal! I was grateful for his watchful care, but decided that I would just get up and join in with what was being planned for the day. The kids had decided that they wanted to go out to the park and so that's what we did. We played and had lunch and then played some more.

I see you

Zach couldn't figure out the front from the back on this one. He has got so much better this summer at playing with others. I don't have to worry quite so much about him pushing other kids over! He often tries to find a friend his age to play with now.

Thomas climbed wherever he could

Taking a ride

Swinging boys

We also played a little catch

Before leaving we decided to take a short hike down to the water.

It was quite muddy. Zach loved throwing things into the water as usual. Unfortunately, as I predicted Zach managed to take a tumble in the mud and refused to wear his dirty clothes.

This was how he made the trek back to the car!

On the way home Spenser took the kids into a nearby bakery and let them pick out a cookie. We had a little bit of down time then until it was time to go to Olivia's 1st baseball game of the season. Unfortunately, she missed the first 3 games that she could have played in because we've been doing other things on friday nights. We have been faithfully attending practice each week, but Friday night games in the summer aren't always the best things. Summer sports might have to be re-evaluated in our house next year, but both Thomas and Olivia were eager to try them out.

Batter up
She hit 2 out of the 3 balls on her 1st pitch!

Accessing the field

Fielding isn't always fun

Fielding can make you tired

Little brothers sometimes like to come out
onto the field and help you kick dirt around

After the game the kids spent some time having pictures taken.

The Tigers

I left to go out for dinner with some friends to celebrate their birthdays. Spenser decided that he wanted to go out too and so he took the kids over to Pizza Hut. He reported that they all did very well and it didn't cost him anymore than it would have to get Papa Murphy's. This way he didn't have to do the clean up!
