World Cup and Water Fun

Today the sun was shining and that made me happy. We also saw the launch of England's world cup bid. It was also the USA's 1st game too, but most people in our household were interested in supporting the mother country. The kids were all dressed in their England shirts, kindly sent over by Grandma Elaine, and we hoped for a good USA beating, although we didn't speak too much smack out of respect for dad! The same couldn't be said of him unfortunately.

I knew it was bad news when England went up 1-0 just 4 minutes into the game. I've seen many a bad thing happen when the boys go up early. It normally makes them a little complacent and that always means trouble. As predicted the mid field struggled to provide too much up front and a goal keeper gaff made the final score 1-1. I called home to talk about the game. Hayley wouldn't hear any of my complaints, but dad was totally with me. He was so wound up mum said, he couldn't even eat his food!

Some mixed feelings after England's goal

Not overly interested in the game!

Still friends

Since the weather was good and we never know when it will be these days, I suggested that we pack up some things and head out to the water park in Bremerton. Some of the kids were grumbling (Thomas), but we made them put on their swim shorts anyway. The drive was pleasant and we enjoyed a picnic together as the kids played.

Summer joy
(the water was still super cold)

Waiting for it to blow

It's off!

Zach took a while to warm up to the cool water
It's funny to see him being a little more hesitant this year

Waiting in the cold

Still waiting

Notice that Zach had already run off by this point!

Warming up a little

Sliding around

We did have a fun time at the water park, but did manage to come home with a few injuries. Olivia got a good cut on her knee and Zach managed to fall from the slide onto the pavement, on his head. It made quite the cracking sound and scared a few people who were nearby. He cried for quite a while, but was OK. For Zach to cry it certainly must have hurt. He has quite the hard head though. I can't even remember the times that he has hit it. I hope there are some brain cells still left in there somewhere.

Sibling fun

We did talk about catching the ferry back over to Seattle and driving back from there, but we played longer than expected and it would have made our 10 p.m arrival back at the house even later.

After we had dried up and changed we waited over in a long line at Coldstone to get some ice cream. Everyone seemed to think that the wait was definitely worth it.

She loves the cold stuff

I don't know why but your kids are all of the sudden looking a lot older. Growing up too fast. Glad for warmer days!

I don't know how you have that much energy to do all of these fun family activities! It motivates me. And then I feel tired. Hopefully in a few years I can be a super mom, like you. Love the pic of the "siblings" at the water park. So cute with their different expressions!

I'm glad you went out and got to enjoy that warm weather! It has been in short supply this year. That water park looks fun. And Cold Stone is awesome!

Great pictures! You are a talented photographer. I wish we had discovered that little water park treasure when we lived there.
