The plan for today had been to drive out to the Olympic Peninsula, but Hayley called to say that they were coming home early from Utah and the kids weren't really too excited about driving in the car again, so the old people went alone. When they came back they all reported what a fun day they had had (probably because they didn't have to be around demanding kids). They enjoyed a nice lunch at the Olympic lodge and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. I was happy to be able to get some errands and the regular day to day stuff done without worrying about people being bored.
While mum and dad drove up to the airport, Spenser and I took Thomas over to the school ice cream social to drop off supplies and meet his new teacher. After the tough time he had last year he was quite negative about how this year would be, but by the end of the night he seemed pretty excited to be going back and said that it might be better than he thinks. I only hope and pray.
Once everyone was back home and had eaten dinner the men folk went out to a cart track that kent was interested in visiting. They came home and reported what a fun evening they had had and how good Thomas was. I told Kent that he wasn't to encourage any such behavior even if that was the case. I only worry that if Thomas shows an interest that will give Spenser all the excuse he needs because he could tell me that he's spending time with one of his kids. Dad said that he didn't fair too well because it made him feel sick. I guess that I better not give it a go then.
