Birthday Celebrations

Last night we drove down to the Great Wolf Lodge to see if we could pick up one of the amazing last minute deals that we feel like everyone else seems to get on a regular basis. The lady at the front desk told Spenser that there was nothing too much that she could do until after 9:00 p.m so we went out to dinner and then drove back. We were told that the rate had dropped from $289 down to $279 and since we had missed the whole evening in the water park anyway we told the kids that it was too much money. Zach was distraught, Olivia was hysterical, and Thomas was super disappointed but trying to hide it. I looked up prices for the next weekend and found that they were more reasonable so we promised to go back then. Portland it would now have to be!

This man didn't get a whole lot since he had
just been on a fun trip to Utah

After breakfast we made the drive down to Portland and spent some time at the zoo.

Pausing for some lunch

We went in to feed the lorikeets

Zach thought that Spenser was the bomb since the lorikeets loved their little cup. This worked out well for me since Zach hung pretty close to Spense for the rest of the day, which gave me a nice break from carrying him!

After enjoying a needed elephant ear snack we headed over to the nearby Wilson Pool that Johanna had recommended to us. It wasn't anything fancy, but the vortex lazy river, slide, and pool kept the kids well entertained.

Enjoying the warmer weather

Zach loved hanging out on the foam mats

We had originally planned to end the day with dinner at Elephant's Deli, but as we drove out there thought that I remembered that they weren't open until super late. After checking it out, we found that they were indeed already closed so we ended up getting Olivia a bagel at Panera and the rest of us enjoyed some Chipotle in the car together since Zach had already fallen asleep.

Happy birthday boys. We all enjoyed spending a fun day with you. We wouldn't trade you for the world!
