While Spenser was away at another day of the Dance Festival (something that I prefer not to talk about) I decided that we needed to get out a little bit to help pass the day away a little faster. We haven't been down to the local cider mill in a while and I was really fancying one of their famous apple fritters, that they only serve on Saturday, and so after some protest I bundled everyone into the car.
When we arrived we saw a little boy from Thomas and Olivia's T-Ball team who was buying one of the rabbits that they had for sale there so you can imagine what I heard for the nest little while! They didn't even particularly like the rabbits and Thomas certainly didn't seem to want to hold one. He just wants a pet and it seems that anything will do! I told him that I used to have rabbits, lots of them after they all escaoed and mated, and there is a lot of feeding and poop clean up. I said that if we were going to get something then I wanted it to be a worthwhile pet like a dog. Since we have frequent talks about how we're not ready for one of those yet because they can't really help walk it, Thomas seemed to know that the subject was closed!
After some wonderful apple fritters and apple cider slushies we got some food and went off to feed the animals. The only things that they really have right now are the goats, and they were hungry!Olivia as usual got right in there. Thomas is a little more cautious and doesn't always like the way it feels to have an animals mouth next to your hand, but after he watched his little sister doing it for a while he was convinced to join in too. Although we frequently reminded Olivia how greedy these goats are and how she needed to guard her bag she lost it several times! The first time I managed to get it back from the grasps of the goat, but the next time it was all over. She screamed as that thing chomped down that big bag. I only hope that they have pretty good digestive systems to break down that kind of stuff. I was kind of worried that we might have killed it or something, but what can you do! Now all the food was gone it was time to go home with tummies full of delicious fritters and Olivia's heartache to talk about.
