Spenser decided a while ago that it was time for Thomas to finally take the plunge and ride without his training wheels. So off they came and with them came Thomas' desire to ride his bike. He thought that he would never be able to ride without their steadying influence and so he refused to try, but with our summer nights he decided to try once more. Seeing other kids do something that you want to be able to do can definitely be a motivating force! Spense spent some time with him and I have had a couple of tries in the middle of the street that have mainly involved lots of yelling and crying that he just couldn't do it.
Today Ryan came over announcing that his dad had put his training wheels back on his bike because he just couldn't ride without. He asked if we could go outside and ride bikes. In our house there is no going back and there was also a kick stand installation at stake, so Thomas got out there and gave it a try. We did have a few embarrassing scenes which mainly involved shouting at me in plain sight, but when he calmed down and finally listened, something amazing happened...he could ride! When Spense got home Thomas gave him a little demo and then got his kick stand, and now he asks to go out there whenever he has the chance.

Well done Thomas!!! It's SO hard to learn to ride your bike without the stablelizers on the back. I remember many nights of frustration and crying too...oh and the odd grazed knee or two. My 1st bike was red and called "Poppy." I remember a bike your Mum had which was green. What was that called Nadia?? The good thing is you'll never forget how to ride your bike again and I'm sure will come in handy for your missionary days - you're so advanced! We love you! xx
Wow - well done Thomas!! I loved watching the video clip Nad, you have a lovely quiet street to play on!
WOO HOO Thomas! Great Job! We are so proud of you,

The little Thomas I had in preschool is riding a bike! I can't believe how big he's gotten, and he's really good at it too! Way to go Thomas!!
