Baseball

No sooner had we deflated the slide and cleared away the cake and ice cream we were off to our final event of the day - a baseball game. I was excited that we all had the chance to go together as a family because I wanted to be able to share with Thomas in something that he loves. Why should Spense have all the opportunities.?! We picked up food on the way and made it in good time. The only problem was when we took our tickets to the door and when the guy scanned them he said that some of them had invalid dates. After looking at them we found that we had two for tonight and two from last night. After going to a number of different windows and thinking that we would probably have to downgrade our seats if we had to buy them ourselves (since I wasn't prepared to pay $130 for Olivia and I to watch a baseball game that I wasn't even sure she would enjoy), we finally made it into the stadium. Since the person who had given them to Spense had 4 season tickets and none of them were being used the ticket guy just gave us all of them. We even made it in on time to get a Mariner backpack!

At first Olivia seemed to be interested in the game, but after all of her snacks were gone she spent the rest of the evening with her fingers in her ears asking if she could go home yet.

Zach seemed to have a fun time. He was pretty good at sitting on Spenser's knee and of course thoroughly enjoyed all of the treats, although he couldn't quite figure out the cotton candy. He sang especially loud during the 7th inning stretch during the "give me some peanuts and cracker jacks" part. He loved the cracker jacks!

Thomas of course had a great time. He said at the end of the 7th inning that we could leave anytime we wanted to. Once we were certain that the Mariners weren't going to win (which didn't take more than the 1st inning to figure out!) we said that we were going to leave, but he wouldn't let us. Spense said that he always talks big about leaving, but he always wants to stay until the very end of the game.

We had a fun night together, although I'm not sure Olivia will be asking to go back soon. A guy did take a family picture for us, but of course my ever so unreliable camera helped it to turn out blurry. We'll have to wait for a while until we all want to go back again.
