Emergency at the beach

While Spenser was enjoying a nice 8 mile run along the beach I was of course in the kitchen cooking the breakfast (yes, he heard about that one). To be honest though I know that you are still doing a lot of the same things that you do at home when you go on a trip like this, but loading someone else's dishes into someone else's dishwasher makes it feel at least a little bit better. I did have my mum along for some help too.

After enjoying our cinnamon french toast and fresh fruit breakfast, mum and I joined the rest of the group who had already headed down to the playground.

It took me a couple of times to get this, but I did it

We headed off back to the house to get some lunch packed up to take down to the beach. Part of the walk involved going down a very steep hill. Thomas was warned to go down slowly on his scooter, but the next thing I knew was that my name was being called, Thomas was screaming on the floor and Spenser was trying to get down the hill to him as quickly as he could without hurting the other two in the wagon.

we had forgot to take his helmet with us and so he had banged over his right eye pretty good. He seemed to know what was going on, but couldn't stop screaming. We did get a little nervous though when he threw up 4 times on the short walk back. Spenser and dad got into the car after giving him a blessing to take him to the emergency room in Aberdeen. Dad came back a little later though and said that they were waiting to see an EMT at the office. I drove down to them and after talking with her Spenser decided that he would drive him out to the ER anyway just to be safe. I think that dad was sad that he was going to have to come to the beach with us instead!

After lunch we decided that we would stick with the original plan and head down to the beach. It was pretty windy and mum and dad sat huddled underneath the blanket for a while. Dad said that they looked like a couple of old age pensioners who had been taken out for a day trip and were being tortured!

Grandma managed to make it our from underneath the blanket and build quite the sandcastle fortress. I walked down to the sea to get some water for the pool in the middle and I was pleasantly surprised by how warm it was.

Dad however, stayed under the blanket!

When all the sandcastles were finished Olivia said that she was cold and wanted to go back to the beach house. Dad said that was the most sensible idea he had heard all day. We just went back and hung around the house. Olivia had fun playing with all the toys and the Wii.

When Thomas and Spenser arrived back from the ER mum, dad, and I decided to go for a walk. Dad came along too on one of the bikes that was in the garage. They also have a bunch of bikes that you can rent for free up at the office. When we got back to the house, mum decided that she would give the riding thing ago. It appeared that you can forget how to ride a bike!

When Thomas came home it was confirmed that he had indeed got himself a concussion and would have to stay away from physical activity for a week. His eye actually looked a lot better than I had expected and so he spent the afternoon on the ned watching a movie.

Spenser got started on building another fire. Zach was a little less interested in the fire and much more interested in the cars he had found in the garage so things went much easier this time around.

She really seemed to like it!

Then it was down to business with one last night in the hot tub

Definitely an eventful and mostly enjoyable day!
