Soccer Days

After swimming lessons failed terribly with Olivia, and because her good friend Connor was playing on a soccer team, we decided that we would give soccer a try. We had our second game today and it didn't fail to impress just like the first! One of the highlights of the week was the arrival of uncle Josh and auntie Hayley and so we dragged Hayley along. Josh said that he had homework to do - he surely didn't realize what he would be missing out on! Last week's game was so entertaining. I'm not entirely sure that too many of the kids really knew what they were supposed to do. Olivia just ran around with everyone else and didn't listen a whole lot to our cries of "Olivia, get the ball!" Olivia played in goal for a few minutes, but she didn't do much of a job. She kept running out to get snacks and while she was out there the other team made a run on goal. I raced back across there with her, but alas it was too late. It was just one of the many goals that the "Dinosaurs" let in that day!

We picked up a healthy lunch from McDonald's (?!) on the way and got ourselves situated. Olivia was quite into the game for about the first 10 minutes, but it all went downhill after that. She kept leaving the game to play with the Batman toy that she had got in her Happy meal, and a part of it became lost. She was devastated, and could only be coaxed back out onto the field to give high fives to the other team at the end of the game. It's so easy to feel like you're wasting your time quite often, but I guess that you have to keep on trying. Isn't learning to be patient what having children is all about!?

Well here is some video to check out her mad skills!

She was much happier that week than she was this week. I felt bad she was so sad today...and felt sorry for Spenser too. He was trying to be so patient, but she was really testing him. Maybe next week will be better...or will there be a next week??? :)
