We met up with the Peterson's this morning for a trip across to Anderson Island. We had never been out there before and decided that it would be worth a look since the Peterson's hadn't stopped talking about it after their recent visit. We met down in Steilacoom and caught the ferry across to the island. We enjoyed some great views on the way and saw a bunch of jelly fish in the sound.
Zach loved riding the ferry boat. We were sure to
keep a very close eye on his activities though.

Olivia, Melissa, Jill, and Drake didn't like
the breeze on deck so sat inside

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge
Our first view of the island
After we arrived we drove down to the lake where we picnicked. The kids were far more interested in getting in the lake and swimming than eating though and so that's how we spent the afternoon.
Drake and Thomas climbing onto the platform
Thomas thinking about jumping from the platform
Thomas got a little bit scared jumping from the platform (to be honest I wouldn't have done it either). Drake got a little impatient and so pushed him in. He did a nice big belly flop that made quite the noise and hurt his belly. Unfortunately, it did little to make him want to jump back in again and it also got Drake sent to time out for a while too!
Olivia prefers to splash rather than swim
She also loves playing in the mud
Drake and Thomas were soon friends again
Zach enjoyed swimming with dad
There was a great little slide that landed into a shallow pool
Olivia was especially fond of climbing up and down the slide
Zach trying to pull off his swim diaper
(that's a usual sign that he's ready to get out)
We finally left the lake when flies started to descend. They were everywhere and on everything (especially in the water). We had to make sure that we were swimming with closed mouths so that we didn't get a good serving of flies.
After heading to the small convenience store for
some ice cream we caught the ferry back home
Thanks Peterson's for sharing Anderson Island with us. We had a fun time!

Poor Thomas! You've got to give him credit for not giving into peer pressure though! Well done Tom! We love you! xx
