Change of Plans

We woke up this morning and got ready to go down to breakfast. When Olivia and I arrived we found that everything had already been packed away. We forgot that it was Friday and not the usual Saturday morning of our stay. Yet another thing that seemed to be going wrong on this trip. I did wonder if we should just pack up and go home now! Spenser had luckily got down to breakfast a little ahead of Olivia and I so had grabbed a few donuts for the kids to enjoy at least so they weren't starving.

We packed up and headed out to the car. It wasn't a very warm morning, but we decided that as long as it didn't rain we would be fine. About 20 minutes into our hour long drive the rains started to fall. I wanted to just turn around and go back, but Spense who said that the weather forecast for the day said nothing about rain just wanted to plod on so that's what we did. When we arrived at Skibowl this is what we found.

Spenser was visibly sad...

...but Zach didn't seem to care too much

To be honest I was a little glad that we had decided to go the whole way since the decision had been made for us.  As we drove back along the wet mountain pass, Spense called the Petersons who had just decided to get into the car and leave for Portland and we decided that after we had eaten some lunch that we would meet up with them for the rest of the day.

We finally made it!

Enjoying our food. Thomas loved his huge pizza

After our 2 1/2 hour round trip for nothing, we managed to find our way to Elephant's Deli. As Johanna had promised the food was good and it was a fun environment to eat in. We then walked a few short blocks down to St. Cupcakes. When Spenser and Olivia had visited Cupcake Jones a few months ago they had been told that they should try this place out too. The cupcakes were definitely a better size for the kids, but I think that I still like the richer cupcake that Cupcake Jones makes. We definitely had fun picking out our favorite flavor cupcake and frosting though.

The boys were ready for some cupcakes

Olivia wanted the girls to have a picture too,
but somehow Zach snuck his little face in as well

Helping Thomas onto the step stool so
that he could make an informed decision!

Zach enjoyed his mini cupcake

Olivia just licked off the frosting

We met the Peterson's at the zoo and spent some time looking at all of the animals that we didn't see yesterday. Zach was really on form today. He wanted his stroller, and we didn't want him to have it! It was actually good for the Peterson's to see his little outburst since no one ever believes us when we complain about him.

Olivia surprisingly enjoyed combing the goats

To end the day we drove down to 23rd street and ate at Roses together. I felt bad for our waiter having to deal with our 7 kids who when they get together can never manage to stay in their seats. We left for home around 9 p.m. which was much later than we intended, but the good thing was is that they were all asleep and ready to go to bed when we pulled onto the driveway.
