Spenser flew out to Arizona on Thursday evening to go down to the Scotsdale center for Dentistry with Venn and Cathy. I was really supposed to have gone too, but I didn't want Noelene to watch my kids when I was worried that she would have things to do for Devin and Katrina's reception this coming weekend. I was glad that I was the one home though, when Zach started running a fever on Thursday. I had a pretty rough night with him and ended up sleeping in Thomas' bed next to him for most of the night (well, actually there wasn't too much sleeping going on for either one of us).
I would probably have waited another day to see if things changed, but since the weekend was coming I decided that we should pop to the pediatrician's just to be safe. I was certainly glad that I did when she told me that he had an ear infection starting. That little munchkin always has a hard time sleeping when something like that is going down. I gave him a double dose of antibiotics before bed and some tylenol, but he still woke up with a fever. Why do dad's always have to miss the fun?
I felt bad for Thomas and Olivia the whole weekend. I was worried that they were totally bored. It was super hot and so the only place to go outside would have been to the pool, but we all decided that probably wasn't such a great idea with an ear infection. Luckily, they were troopers and treated me well while dad was gone. We did play outside with the hose for a little while yesterday at least. I am sure that I had cabin fever much more than they did.
I was worried that we might not manage to get to church today with Zach, but his fever has gone and he seems to be crying less. I always feel like I can never take a day off in nursery because it's hard to find people to substitute for you, so I was glad that we could make it and it got us all out of the house for the first time in a couple of days too. I had to leave sacrament for a while with a noisy Zach, so I left Thomas with instructions to take care of his sister. When I returned from walking the corridor I saw the two of them coming out of the bathroom. Thomas told me that Olivia needed to go so he had helped her. What a sweet guy. He always helps me to focus on the good things in life - and hey, Spense will be back sometime tonight! I take my hat off to all women who have husbands who work away frequently or are in the military. You people are amazing to me.

I almost forgot the he turned around and left again. You are a trooper!! Hopefully things have settled down for you. Poor you and Zach. Sleep deprivation is the pits.
