Going to Skibowl

This weekend we had planned to spend some time down at Skibowl down on Mt. Hood. Skibowl is a ski resort that they change up during the summer time with a bunch of fun activities such as a big alpine slide, bungee jumping, a rock wall, and other kid friendly activities. We decided to split the trip up into 2 days, since the kids don't seem to like more than a 2 hour drive (well Zach anyway). 

Our first stop was the Portland zoo where we decided to ride the train that goes around Woodland Park. We stopped off at the large playground down there. As we played Thomas ran over and told me that there were people giving out free ice cream. No one gives anything away for free these days right?!  At first I didn't believe him, but then we saw all of these kids wandering around with ice cream sandwiches and popsicles, so we decided to investigate. Sure enough a local bank have a van that different branches drive around to various locations during the summer months to give out free ice cream. We definitely appreciated it. Sadly, as we sat and ate ice cream in an attempt to make some space on the camera memory card, Spenser deleted all of the pictures off the camera. He was supposed to have protected some of the ones that we hadn't downloaded yet, but apparently hadn't. This made me quite upset, especially when he just wanted to make light of the whole thing.

After our ice cream we rode back to the Zoo. Thomas wanted to walk around and see some of his favorite animals so we spent a little time doing that before we left. We drove down into Portland in the hope of finding Elephant's Deli and St. Cupcakes. These were two places that the Johnsons had recommended to us. Unfortunately, it seemed impossible to make a left in downtown Portland and so we just gave up and tried to find the freeway to go to the hotel. Finding the freeway entrance is a little frustrating in Portland too. There are lots of signs, but very free entrances it seems. We finally made it, but by this time we were all hungry and I was especially fed up.

Pushing the stroller with Zach has become quite an issue lately. He wants to push it too, but he doesn't want to help push it, he wants to do it himself. Can you see that for a 21 month year old why that might be quite the issue? We're not getting anywhere fast and we're having quite the temper tantrums too.

We drove around for a while to find something that we all wanted to eat. We ended up at the Applebees close to the temple where we were staying. As we walked into the restaurant Olivia said that she had a tummy ache. Before I even had chance to take her to the bathroom, she threw up all over herself, me, and the floor right near our table. She must have felt bad because I can remember only about 3 times in her whole life that she's ever done that. I got us both cleaned up and changed into new clothes. I was glad that we hadn't yet taken our things to the hotel. I think that she was just a little car sick because she then ate down a good number of fries and enjoyed some ice cream for desert. 

Upon arriving at the hotel there was of course some swimming and movie watching and then it was lights out.
