A few months ago I told Thomas that we should take a trip down to Great Wolf Lodge with a friend instead of having a birthday party. Somehow I managed to convince him that would be a great idea. He did have a change of heart about a month ago though, when we were looking at birthday cakes in Fred Meyer and a cool Harry potter one caught his eye. After a few days of going back and forth he finally decided to stick with the original plan.
Spense got home from work around 3.30 p.m and we packed and drove the 15 miles or so down to Great Wolf. Since it was very close to dinner time we stopped at the nearby Dairy Queen to get some food before we checked in and started splashing around at the water park.

The blizzard really hit the spot
Check in was a little slow, and by the time we got to our room we were ready to get changed and get sliding. We enjoyed around 3 hours of fun before the park closed for the night at 9 p.m.
The kids loved squirting one another

After chips and cookies (yes, we are a healthy crew) we managed to get everyone changed and into their pajamas. I popped some popcorn and Thomas and Ryan started a movie on the portable DVD player. We had put them on the pull out couch which was just behind a little wall in the hope that they could enjoy themselves while Zach would sleep. It wasn't all that successful though and it took Zach quite a long time to finally drop off. Ryan was also less than happy with the accommodation. He said that he should have a bed to himself since the pull out felt like it was just springs covered with a sheet. To be honest the regular beds weren't all that comfy either. He was a very gracious guest! We were expecting that we would get a few complaints from him so we were able to keep patient, because that's what he does at our house too. Lights were finally out by around 11 pm.
